The Government of Canada continues to embrace and honour the Implementation Principles in the Federal Pathway to Address Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People. We understand that the way we work to address the root causes of violence is equally important as the results of these actions.

Respect for the human rights of Indigenous Peoples

Leadership of Indigenous families, survivors, women and 2SLGBTQI+ people

A holistic approach

Self-determined, Indigenous-led, grassroots solutions and services

Cultural safety and humility

Trauma-informed approach

A focus on dignity and supporting power and place

The Government of Canada aims to reflect these principles in the implementation of programs and initiatives to address violence against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQI+ people, both now and in the future.
