About us

Estate administration is a private family matter, and Yukon Region will not step in unless there is no one eligible who is willing and able to administer the estate.

We can appoint a family member, anyone named in the will, or anyone else the family members choose. A family member is usually in the best position to administer the estate to everyone's satisfaction. If no one is available, Yukon Region can act as the administrator of last resort.

Yukon Region is unable to help in the case of deceased, minor or dependent adult individuals who are/were:

In this case, the Government of Yukon's Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee or the British Columbia Public Guardian and Trustee, depending on where the individual lives/lived, will be able to arrange for the administration of the estate.

For people who are acting as an estate administrator please review the helpful executor checklist.
