What We Do

The work of the Board Relations Secretariat is guided by a supporting terms of reference that was developed in partnership with the boards.

In furthering its client service mandate, the directorate's activities support a number of strategic and operational priorities, such as:

• Help facilitate the resolution of mandate, jurisdictional, operational/ effectiveness and legal interpretation issues that may arise with respect to the implementation of the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act (MVRMA) and the Inuvialuit Final Agreement
• Facilitate clear communications between boards on matters of collective interest
• Assist in clarifying respective roles and responsibilities of the boards
• Co-ordinate administrative matters such as nominations from Aboriginal government or organizations, and the Government of the Northwest Territories, Ministerial board appointments and regional board funding arrangements
